Hospice Hillclimb Series starts 26th May


The Lakes Road Club and Barrow Central Wheelers have joined forces with five local businesses to organise a series of cycling hill climb races throughout the summer to raise funds for St Mary’s Hospice.

Topmark Cycles, DC Cycles, Gill Cycles, The Ulverston Brewing company and the Stone Workshop have all provided prizes for the winning cyclists throughout the series of hill climbs. The organisers hope to get lots of amateur cyclists coming forward and taking part with the aim of promoting local clubs and getting more cyclists to get involved while raising money for a local charity.

The hospice hill-climb series kicks off at 6:30pm on Thursday 26th May, with the Topmark sponsored 1.6mile race up Grizebeck hill. Riders will blast up the hill from Grizebeck village side to Burlington slate with prizes available for the first to cross the line in 4 categories. Juniors (15-18 year olds),Men’s, Women’s, and Veterans (45+ years).

Spectators are welcome and any riders interested in having a go should turn up with £2 half an hour before the start to register. The races are being run under the rules of the Cycling time trials organisation and juniors will need a signed parental consent form.
